SATURDAY 12TH OCTOBER 2024:

U12 JL (MJPL):
It was battling performance from our young Under 12's side, who had to come from behind to snatch a hard-fought point at home against Solihull Moors. Having fallen behind so early on in the first-half, the Church showed their fighting spirit to come back and grab their equaliser. As they pushed for a winner, it wasn't to be and a point a-piece for the two sides.

U13 RR (MJPL):
Alvechurch RR 4 v 1 Racing Club Warwick

It was the battle of the season as first faced off against second. Always a big game and a game we won 2-1 last season. Today was outstanding from the start to the end. We dominated the ball and our transition in/out of possession was fantastic. On another day, it could have been six or seven. But, it was a faultless performance.

Goalscorers were Blake Richardson (2), Jude Parchment and Finn James. The Man of the Match award(s) went to both Hashim Khan and Freddie Bird, they were both wee exceptional.

U13 MR (GIRLS):
In a thrilling mid-table clash, Alvechurch battled in a hard-fought contest away at Boldmere. In an end-to-end encounter, it was keeping both sets of supporters eye-gripped and the entertainment continued to flow.

The Alvechurch goalkeeper was called into action on a few occasions making some superb saves to keep the away side in the game. In the second half, the visitors took control of proceedings but the physical aspects took its toll on some of the players. They were working incredibly hard but no way through at the moment.

The home side, Boldmere Falcons, struck a late dagger to the heart as they scored the only goal of the match to seal all three points. Church feeling hard-done by as a point would have been a deserved point. But, we will look to bounce back next weekend.

U13 DR (MJPL):
On a huge day of football at The Hayes, Dan Roberts' side were looking to make it three league wins in a row and continue their surge up the MJPL table. Having taken a 1-0 lead, they then found themselves 1-2 down with 25 minutes left. A lot of work to do to turn it around. But two very late goals rallied the team, including a 86th minute winner, to clinch all three points.

U13 NH (MJPL):
Alvechurch Under 13's made the long journey to Ludlow to face Shrewsbury Town Foundation. The boys started strongly playing some quality football which blew the opposition away. The Church raced into a 5-0 lead at the interval thanks to birthday boy, Cody Edwards (assisted by debutant Archie Ridgway) and a brace from both Jacob Carr alongside Riley Batchelor. Stunning.

The visitors continued their dominance on proceedings. They even added more goals to the ever-growing score-line. Jacob Carr added another two to his tally taking him to four goals for the morning. Jack Brough and Josh Andrews both got their names on the scoresheet. Meanwhile, Riley Batchelor had a hat-trick whilst Cody Edwards grabbed a brace on his birthday.

Despite the score-line, Fred Alden (goalkeeper for Church) was called into action making a few good saves showing great levels of concentration. The 11-1 win on the road made the very early start and long round trip worth it. Each and every on the players can be proud of their efforts plus performances but Saturday was all about a class team effort. Well done, lads!

U14 DD (MJPL):
David Deakin's side were on the road on Saturday morning as they made the trip to local neighbours Boldmere St. Michaels looking to continue their unbeaten start to the 2024/2025 season. Having scored 16 goals in their last two games, the Church were full of confidence. They made it three wins in a row with battling 2-1 win.

U16 RT (MJPL):
Our Under 16's gained their first win of the season at the sixth attempt as they managed to grab all three points at home against Stafford Town Juniors with a comprehensive 3-1 victory in the end to kick-start their campaign.

U16 (GIRLS):
Saturday's league match was an away fixture against third-placed Bournville Girls. Following on from last week's phenomenal cup-upset, they were looking to take that performance into their top-of-the-table clash.

The away team started the better of the two sides as they raced into a 2-0 lead at the break thanks to goals from Ollie Betts for her first of the morning following a lovely sweeping finish. The second came from Grace Ford, who was on hand to smash home the loose ball following a superb corner delivery.

Three minutes after the restart, Alvechurch made their pressure count as two became three. Another fantastically crafted move from the confident travelling side eventually landed in the path of Freya Lawely. She kept her composure and slotted home. Maintaining their pressure, Church added a fourth and fifth before the game reached it's conclusion.

The fourth was calmly dispatched by Ollie Betts, who doubled her tally for the morning following another sweeping Church move. It became a five-star showing on the road with minutes left as Betts claimed the match ball with a devastating effort.

Fantastic performance across the whole squad. But Player of the Match went to Regan Bennett. Her understanding of what the coaches were asking and the impact she had on it was out of this world. Worthy winner of the medal.

U18 (GIRLS):
The league season was finally upon our new Under 18's side. Having competed in a break-off mini-cup-league, their wait for a league match arrived in October. On Saturday afternoon, they welcomed Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Church raced into a 3-0 lead in the first-half but did concede on the half-time whistle to give the away side a lifeline. The hosts added to the score-line early on to seemingly put the game beyond doubt but the visitors kept battling on. Two goals in the space of five minutes pulled the game back to 4-3.

With not much time remaining, Church were tiring and Rovers came on strong before snatching a fourth goal and a point on opening day of the league season. Not the result they were looking for, but it is a point a-piece and lots more to play for across the campaign. A lapse in concentration and focus the difference for Church on the day.

SUNDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2024:

U7 (YELLOWS - DA):
Alvechurch' young superstars came out on the wrong side of an eight-goal thriller at The Hayes but a performance to be proud of. A very tight and competitive game.

A big thank you to Callum for leading the team out as captain this week. Our captain for the week was Chester. Our Man of the Match award went to Rory. A great performance from Rory on Sunday. Some excellent runs towards goal and really helped to keep the ball in the opposition half. Very well deserved.

Goals came from Sam and Fionn.

U9 (PT):
Our Under 9's travelled over to Sutton United on Sunday morning looking to give a good account of themselves on the road. Despite a tight battle, Church came out on the wrong side of the result but it was a very good hard-fought encounter with Sutton. The young superstars can be very proud of their efforts.

U9 (MS):
We came away with a fantastic victory against DW Coaching. Church played some great football throughout and a special mention to Ollie Shannon, who scored four goals in the win.

U9 MR:
A nail-biting encounter ends in heart-break for Church...

A tight first-half was characterised by some well worked attacking play and robust defending from both sets of players. Especially from our Man of the Match, Archie Rogers, who was making a habit of timely interceptions and marshalled the back-line very well. The score-line was 1-1 at the interval as both sides continued their battle in the cup tie.

As the second half commenced, Alvechurch continued on from where they had left off and managed to take the lead. As the Church pushed for the clinching goal, Crusaders broke away and snatched an equaliser in a gut-wrenching moment. The game ended 2-2 and the lottery of penalties was up next.

Unfortunately, Church came out on the wrong side of the penalty kicks, but both goalkeepers in fine form for their respective teams.

Alvechurch U9 MR displayed fantastic teamwork from minute one of the contest all the way through to penalties. A performance to remember and everyone can be very proud of their efforts despite coming on the wrong side of it. We gave a great account of ourselves both in the attacking areas and even defensively for long periods.

U10 (SP):
THEY'VE DONE IT - INTO THE AUTUMN CUP FINAL!

Firstly, a HUGE well done to our Under 10's, who have a date with destiny coming up in the very near future. A day to look forward to, for sure.

We fell behind to a hungry and determined Solihull Yellows side. They fought and scrapped for every single ball. Harry then made it 1-1. The visitors continued to strike at the heart of the young Church side as they regained their advantage. But, then came the effort that was needed by the hosts. They fought hard to make it 2-2 through Ellis' finish.

At the break, we asked the lads to play their game as we were making errors and not winning tackles/making mistakes. We assured the lads that if they stuck to the game-plan, they would be fine.

Would they respond? Like a house on fire! The goals came raining in. Goals from Harry and Jackson put Church in cruise control (4-2). Yellows wouldn't give up their fight though as they responded with another goal. This game was exploding into life.

Alvechurch hit back with an immediate response making it 5-3 as Ellis grabbed his second of the morning. Church didn't look back from there as Dylan, Jackson (2) and Jude all made it 8-3. Bonkers game of football, this one!

The away team just wouldn't fall, would they? Continuing to probe, they found another two goals themselves to pull the game back to 8-5. Callum capped off a fantastic performance with a well-deserved goal. Jude grabbed his brace in the match as Alvechurch hit TEN! YES, TEN!

Again, the visitors didn't want to go down without a fight as they added another two goals to their side of the score-line making it 10-7. Hudson then all-but clinched their spot in the final with the 18TH GOAL OF THE GAME with a superb finish.

Who said there isn't excitement in a cup semi-final? An 18-goal thriller, well rollercoaster, ensured Church book a date with destiny and will see them compete in their first cup final of the season. UP THE CHURCH!

We need a lie-down... but we keep going!!! More drama to followww...

U10 (RW):
ANOTHER TEAM INTO A CUP FINAL!!!
ANOTHER 11 GOALS FOR ALVECHURCH!!!

A majestic performance on Sunday from our Under 10's. They blew Hampton Reds away. The team mantra of intensity, tenacity and being relentless at the core of everything. Lovely passing alongside work on the ball by the desire to work hard for each other off the ball.

Some of the passages of play were simply too good for the hosts, who often had six players behind the ball. But we prized them open to create endless attacks and opportunities on goal. What was very pleasing for the manager and coaches was when they boys were taking on the tactical and technical aspects of the game. Developed in training on the pitch with confidence and flair.

Alvechurch marched into the final after running riot with an 11-0 victory on the road. Goals from Alex (1), Max (4), Micah (3), Jacob (1), JJ (1) and an own goal mean that our fellow Under 10's side follow up what our other Under 10's managed.

INCREDIBLE TO HEAR!

U11 (KE):
Coming into the encounter, we were undefeated in our last three outings. We were hopeful of another positive result and performance. Early on, both sides had chances to score but both goalkeeper's in fine form.

The first-half ended up being goalless between the two sides with the defensive displays outweighing the attacking ones. Despite a tough second-half, Manager Karl Evans insisted that his side can always keep improving and they will look to attempt to bounce back in their next outing.
