A superb first half followed by a gritty second earns Church a very creditable point .

There were three changes from the FA Trophy starting eleven from the weekend before last.
Dan Sweeney was, of course, suspended. Tyrone Barnett came in, along with Dylan Allen-Hadley and the returning Krystian Pearce to replace Sam Perry and Richard Batchelor.

Church's last six games have all been won or lost by a single goal margin. But despite winning at Spalding inbrhe FA Trophy, Church were still licking their Southern League wounds after hitting the top of the table before losing the last two, both at home, against Stamford and Stourbridge

In fact, only two of Church's twelve fixtures to date had finished with a wider gap ( two goal margins in both cases).

Tight game expected? You would think, nut this is a good benchmark game for the Lye Meadow side.

Nice open passing game from Church in the first few minutes. And first blood for Church when a Sterling-James free kick is only half cleared. Dyer picks the ball up on the corner of the box and curls deliciously into the far corner with keeper Hall a spectator.

Another free kick on 14 is delivered into a dangerous area, and the Church head takes the ball just wide.

First time in Church box on 20 minutes and a deep cross finds Stenson back to goal at the far post. His shot on the turn from close range is well off target. Telford are pressing but Church's shape is good.

Telford give the ball away on 23 in the centre circle and Wakefield is away courtesy of Allen-Hadley, but his final effort, although on target is well blocked by Hall.

Church are giving the home side no time on the ball, and it is causing mistakes in the home ranks., and Dyer is running rings around
his markers.

The passing is crisp and is pulling the home side around at will, much to the frustration of the home supporters. Church really need a second whilst they are so on top.

On 36 Moore fires on target from distance, forcing Hollingshead to make a safety save diving to his left. It's speculative at best.

A Sterling-James slip when making a clearance on 41 lets Telford in, and Hollingshead rescues his side with a smart save to his left to deny Piggott from range.

Danger on 44 minutes when a ball is flashed across the face of the Church goal. Church are under the cosh for the first time as the ball is recycled into the box a number of times, but hold firm into stoppage time.

Free kick thirty yards out, cleared and Hilton sends it well over.

Half Time: AFC Telford United 0 Alvechurch 1

As expected Telford come out of the blocks quickly at the beginning of the half.
But on 49 the goal is lucky to survive when Hall blocks a Allen-Hadly run one on one on the edge of his box. Church are now back in their stride.

On 51 Fox is booked for a trip on Sterling-James.

It's end to end now, as Wakefield's blistering pace gets him to the byline, but his cross is grabbed by Hall before it can reach Allen-Hadley. At the other end Walker flashes a 25 yard effort inches wide of the post.

On 59 Stenson is booked for dissent after Barnett earns a yellow card for a challenge in front of the Telford bench.

On 63 Dinanga is felled by Willis after the ball is only half cleared twice by Pearce. Whittall strokes the penalty in and the hosts are level.

Telford are resurgent now, and the home crowd are back behind them after a frustrating first half. Church need to weather this period.

75 mins: Perry replaces Solademi.

80 mins : Armson replaces Walker and Brown comes on for Hilton.

81 mins: Wakefield sees yellow as a Church attack breaks down.
And then Sephton replaces Barnett.
Stenson is withdrawn and Styche joins the fray.

Everyone holds their breath on 84 when Sterling- James swivels and shoots from just inside the Telford half. On target it's a certain goal with Hall a spectator, but it's agonisingly wide.

Last throw for Church with Batchelor replacing Allen-Hadley in the last minute of normal time.

It's rearguard for Church into the 4th minute of stoppage time as Perry picks up a yellow, but they survive.
