Sensational. Crazy. Weird. Determined. Fantastic.
Some of the words to describe the contest we are about to report on... just one of those games where everything is at 100mph and no way of slowing down until the referee blows his full-time whistle. Just wonderful for the spectators and not good for heart-rates on both sides.
Let's get this underway...
HOW IT UNFOLDED:
Buckle up...
Three minutes into the contest, we got an early indication of what would turn out to be one of the games of the season. A shot on the edge of the area was drilled in but the effort flashed inches past the woodwork to deny the visitors an early lead.
Four minutes later, the away side were handed a golden opportunity to take the lead. Having got in behind the Church defence, a clumsy challenge on the striker resulted in a spot-kick. The striker stepped up and slotted it into the top right-hand corner to give us lift-off but give the away team the perfect start.
Church seemingly void of confidence in the first-half. On 14 minutes, we had Spike Whitehouse to thank for Pro Direct Academy not taking a two-goal lead as he came up trumps with a massive but incredible save down to his right-hand side. Fully stretched to tip the effort wide of the goal and ensure no follow-ups.
The game seemed to be running away from the home team who had no answer to the pressure they were being put under. The second goal did arrive shortly afterwards. A brilliantly weighted ball in behind saw the striker get the extra yard on our defenders, he used his blistering pace and slammed home from 12 yards out beyond a helpless Whitehouse.
It wasn't going to plan for the side that have only lost once all season and their unbeaten home run on the brink of extinction.
On the stroke of half-time, things went from bad to worse for the home team. They weren't looking themselves at all in the first-half showing and another perfectly executed pass was on a plate for the striker, who was having a field day of it. He slotted it underneath Spike to ensure the away side would walk into the break with an astonishing three goal lead.

Church confused. Church blown away. Church not at the races. So unlike them. Could they do something to rectify the situation and salvage their unbeaten home record?
Two minutes into the second period, we had our answer. A glimmer of hope. The goal they needed to settle them and kickstart any hopes of a comeback. Keyl found himself in room to strike on the edge of the box. His effort was too hot to handle for the goalkeeper and Clifford was following in as quick as a flash to tap home the rebound.
On 50 minutes, they were taking it to the extreme!!! Confusion around the ground as the linesman flagged for offside but Alvechurch played on and so did the referee, who didn't pull it back. Jaelon West, introduced from the bench at the interval, latched onto the ball before driving into the area and slammed it home at the near post to send Church wild. GAME ON!!! RIGHT BACK IN IT!!!
WOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! WHAT WAS HAPPENING!!!!!!!
Ten minutes into the second half, and the comeback was well and truly complete. Max Iles executed his pass brilliantly as West beat the goalkeeper to the ball before slotting home into an empty net to set off incredible celebrations as they had rescued the score-line. Huge spirit and determination from the young side. Whatever Tyrone Barnett and Dan Hines said at the break was having the desired effect on the players because they were a completely different team in the second half.
SO CLOSE TO A FOURTH! It would have been taking this to new levels had this one gone in. Just two minutes after the equaliser, the home team nearly cashed in for the lead. Clifford and West linking up fantastically in the second period. The former got the ball back before trying to chip the goalkeeper. However, the keeper read the danger and made a vital save to keep his team in it.
There was a setback though with 25 minutes left to play. PDA Leicester stole their lead back. A well crafted move saw the winger stride into the box and cut it back into a great area. His partner managed to open his body and divert the ball into the far corner with help via the right-hand post - nothing Whitehouse could do stop this one again.
This one was becoming quite an enthralling one. You didn't know where to look next. You couldn't take your eyes off it for a second or else you'd miss something....
THE FIGHTBACK CONTINUED! On 73 minutes, Clifford was brought down inside the 18-yard box following a last-man challenge. The away defender received his marching orders and Clifford had the chance to bring Church level again. He had to wait a few minutes which only ramped up the pressure but the midfielder rammed his penalty home and the scores were level again!
With the last kick of the encounter, the home side had an incredible chance to snatch it from PDA's grasp as West was through on goal following an exquisite ball over the top. He had a lot do still baring in mind. His touch took him wider than he would have hoped. The forward still managed to get the strike off but it sailed wide of the far-hand post and we had to settle for a point.

What more need be said? Just a bonkers game of football. Some way to sign off in 2024. Huge character and spirit shown by the side on Wednesday to rescue a point from three goals down and even from 4-3 down, it could have knocked the wind out of their sails but they continued to fight and not lie down to accept defeat.
Well done, lads. Enjoy the Christmas break!
